**These are my opinions, they are NOT meant to attack or criticize or insult anyone. Its how I feel and I am entitled to my opinion**
You have all seen them, they might even be your sister, cousin, mother or daughter. But you can spot them blocks away. I am talking about black women with blonde hair, platinum blonde hair, blue hair, yellow hair, red hair, green hair and even pink. My only question to them is WHY?
There has always been and probably always will be a controversy that deals only with Black Women and Hair. (I will be talking from two point of views)
One one hand, its black womens fault and some responsibility can fall on the black man. People will argue that the media portrays beauty as blonde hair and blue eyes. Yes and No. The White media portrays what they feel is WHITE BEAUTY. If black people had any control over our own communities than we could post pictures of BEAUTIFUL AFRICAN women(whatever you choose to call them, i will deal with this in another post).
Either way, black women have tried for centuries to adopt to this ideal of white beauty. No matter what they do, its doesnt work and they look like idiots.
During slavery they would take grease and try to smoothe out the kinks, and because of it I am 1000% sure their hair was super dirty (grease attracts dirt). I cant really say too much about their mindset because I wasn't their to witness it. But I will go out on a limb and say I am sure most of them loved it when the slave masters came to "rape" them, because this meant they would have "white" babies with "good" hair.
This classification has been passed down from generation to generation. I have overheard a numerous amount of women proclaim that they want a white baby daddy, so they can have kids with "good" hair.
Its no mistake the mind games that we play on each other. Its no mistake that black people as a community hate each other. Black Women will make rude comments to other women who wear their hair naturally. WHY? Because they are of the belief that its ugly, and when they see it they remember they are ugly, too. But by no means am I saying that black women are ugly, they are not.
Black Women either have to love themselves or love white women. You cant love both. They are opposite, and if you love one you cant fully love the other as much. Opposites were made to be different, one was made to be better and the other is not. As of right now, society tells us that white is right. Well I am here to say that white is wrong. Black is better. Black is Beautiful. Black is benevolent. Black is beneficial. Black is Brotherly.
If black women love to learn themselves, then they learn that they dont need a perm. They learn that they are beautiful with dredlocks, afros or cornrows.
Black women have always been viewed as inferior. The disturing thing about it all is that educated black women are still falling victim to this trap. They wear lacefronts. If you look up lacefronts, i think there is a video on youtube explaining how to apply it. This is basically a wig, that because invisible along the hairline. Most famous wearer would be Tyra Banks. Theres no sign of tracks and it looks "natural". These pieces run anywhere from $300 up. All so they can have silky hair. Its almost scary how far some of these women have gone. Now I will add, that there are some white women who wear them, but not for the same reasons. Another disturbing thing I found from this website is a product called MTG. Now, supposedly this was orignally produced by a barber, to help his clients with skin/hair conditions. If you go to the website you find this www.shapleys.com now the disturing this you find when you click on this link is a horses leg with a skin condition. If you read the testimonials you will find everything about horses. They use this on their hair daily or twice a day and hope for an extra .5 inch of growth a month.
Now I am not trying to call black women out, I am identifying a serious issue here. Black men please, tell black women on a daily basis that they are beautiful. Remind your wife that you love her the way she is and she can stop perming her hair, it will not change your love. Black women tell your daughter they are beautiful. Stop calling these nappy headed. If you see someone who looks nice, compliment them. And make it sound as afro-related as possible. " Your dark skin is so beautiful!" because it is.
There is a serious problem here and until people take the time to identify and solve it, its just going to continue from generation to generation.
Now, of course white society is never gonna let us love ourselves. Which leads into my next topic. Where are the black Communities?
